The October 2024 Budget — what changed
Why the IHT landscape for UK-domiciled HNW families is materially different from 18 months ago — pensions into the IHT net, BPR and APR curtailed.

The October 2024 Budget changed the calculation for UK families with significant wealth. Pension assets are moving into the IHT net. Business and agricultural property reliefs are curtailed. The automatic assumption that a well-constructed estate plan was already in place no longer holds.
The question most advisors are now hearing is some version of the same thing: is the only real answer to leave? It isn't.
On Thursday 18 June, Carlton Crabbe presents a specific, legally-reviewed structure — gift, Bare Trust, Zero Cash Value PPLI — illustrated on a £10 million estate where the standard 40% IHT charge is structurally removed under seven-year survival rules. He will also be direct about where this structure is not the right answer, and what questions an adviser should ask before presenting it to a client.
Carlton will be joined by Julian Melling, CEO of Alpha PPLI, and Tom Wesel of Burnell Chambers.
